But a new leak has shown both of those unreleased phones in the flesh. Thanks to a now-deleted Reddit post, we also have the alleged headline specs of both devices too.
The above photo shows the alleged black Pixel 5 next to the larger Pixel 4a 5G (the Pixel 5 will also be a 5G device but won’t have ‘5G’ in the branding. The 4a 5G has it because the regular Pixel 4a is only 4G. Nice and confusing!)
While the Reddit post has now been deleted, XDA Developers managed to grab the picture and the below specs lists for both phones:
Google Pixel 54,000 mAh batteryRear cameras0. 5x wide-angle lens, possibly the 16MP Sony IMX48112. 2MP main camera (allegedly the Sony IMX363)Front camera8MP Sony IMX355Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G8GB RAM90Hz displayPlastic backPhysical fingerprint scanner on backNo 3. 5mm headphone jackGoogle Pixel 4a 5G3,800 mAh batteryRear cameras0. 5x wide-angle lens, possibly the 16MP Sony IMX48112. 2MP main camera (allegedly the Sony IMX363)Front camera8MP Sony IMX355Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G6GB RAM60Hz displayPhysical fingerprint scanner on back3. 5mm headphone jack
While these specs aren’t fully confirmed, they do line up with previous Pixel 5 and 4a 5G leaks, with both phones having the Snapdragon 765G processor and the same dual rear cameras.
In fact, the Pixel 5 only bests the 4a 5G by having a 90Hz display and 8GB RAM, as opposed to 60Hz and 6GB respectively. The 4a 5G also has a headphone jack where the Pixel 5 doesn’t, so if you’re not fussed about a higher refresh rate you might even want to go for the 4a 5G for its jack and larger screen, though it’ll likely miss out on wireless charging.
The inclusion of a wide-angle camera on both models would see Google walk back its assertion from last year that the zoom lens on the Pixel 4 was a better second sensor than a wide one.
