With plenty of looting and shooting, though, Borderlands fans are sure to recognize the features of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands as soon as they load the game up. Apart from the typical gameplay of shooting enemies with a vast amount of explosions and elemental effects, jokey dialogue, and the cell-shaded graphics fans usually associate with Borderlands, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands also features free loot for players in the form of SHiFT codes.

SHiFT codes are used to give players of Borderlands games keys that they can use to open up a chest found in the hub area of each game. Once opened, the chest provides players with some rare and valuable loot, though it is important to note that the loot given in SHiFT code keys scales alongside the player’s level, so some may want to hold off on rapidly opening chests in the early levels of a game. Borderlands 3 is still seeing SHiFT codes being given out to players to access free loot.
With the beginning of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, though, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has kicked off the gifting of SHiFT codes to players, releasing the first for free loot in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands on his Twitter account. The code is good for one Skeleton Key, which acts as the equivalent of the Golden Keys found in Borderlands 2 and 3. This SHiFT code does have a time limit for players, though, and will only work up until March 31, meaning for any player who’s looking to wait before they purchase the game, they may be out of luck.

Besides giving players a new part-time job of looking up when new SHiFT codes will drop, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands offers four unique characters to play from, as well as a new story and setting for players to explore. There are some returning favorites in the game, too, as the world is based on the imagination and mind of Tiny Tina. For any player looking to speedrun through the game as well, Gearbox has mapped out how endgame content will work in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, meaning that the game doesn’t end as the story does.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
