Bill Murray is the most recent big-time actor Marvel has successfully pursued to portray a supervillain. The veteran actor, who is mostly known for his comedy chops, is set to portray a yet undisclosed supervillain in the upcoming 2023 film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Who could Bill Murray portray in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania? The possibilities explored in this article are a hodgepodge of goofy, relatively obscure supervillains that remain largely unknown to the general public.

This villain is relatively new in comics, having been created by Rick Remender back in 2012’s Secret Avengers. Black Ant has superhuman strength, agility, speed, and stamina. Like Ant-Man, he can also shrink or become gigantic, all the while retaining his physical abilities.

While Bill Murray is no spring chicken at 71, this matters little. After all, Michael Keaton was in his mid-60s when he first portrayed the Vulture. Furthermore, with advances in technology, computer generated imagery (CGI) can work wonders for things like fight sequences and demonstrating super-human technology, such as Ant-Man’s Pym Particles.

Egghead is an extremely obscure Marvel villain. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, his publishing history is nearly as old as that of Spider-Man (1962). Egghead possesses genius intellect, particularly when it comes to engineering. Additionally, he possesses insect control devices, mind control devices, and egg-based weaponry (seriously).

Egghead is the sort of ridiculous sounding villain that Bill Murray could absolutely nail. A quirky mad scientist with a goofy array of weapons fits the tone of the Ant-Man movies. Marvel Studios has also been known to take goofy villains and make them menacing, such as Michael Keaton’s Vulture.

This is a character who is technically dead in Marvel Comics, having met his demise at the hands of the Punisher in 2012. The Power Broker does not possess any superhuman powers, but is on the business side of evil-doing. For a price, the Power Broker would offer augmentation services, cybernetically altering subjects in often bizarre ways.

Although the Power Broker was introduced in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki opened up the multiverse and the idea of variants of characters. Spider-Man: No Way Home did the same, so there is reason to believe there could be a Power Broker brought into the MCU from another universe.

Jim Carrey is rumored to be playing M.O.D.O.K., a supervillain who has undergone serious physical augmentation. It would make sense to introduce the Power Broker if M.O.D.O.K. is going to be in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Furthermore, the MCU sprinkles humor into each of its properties, and the Ant-Man movies are among the funniest offerings. Having Jim Carrey and Bill Murray perform somewhat comedic roles together would be fantastic.

Controller first appeared in a 1969 Iron Man comic. He is known first and foremost for his mind control abilities. Additionally, he has an augmented exoskeleton that grants him absurd feats of strength. The most daunting trait about Controller is that he gains strength through mind control. He also is an astute inventor and scientist, which would make him a great fit for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania since the series is so technology-dependent.

In addition to being a very funny actor, Bill Murray just simply is a master actor. Controller is initially a bedridden and weak character before gaining his abilities. Bill Murray would be able to show this transition in both a funny and heartfelt manner, making this seemingly out-of-the-blue villain a tragic story on the silver screen.

The Molecule Man is arguably the most powerful character in Marvel Comics. This is because he can manipulate and control molecules at the atomic level. The possibilities of what he is capable of are virtually endless. Furthermore, with rumors of a Secret Wars Avengers movie on the horizon, introducing the Molecule Man would be a wise move. He plays a pivotal role for that particular event in Marvel Comics. Not to mention the fact that he would be a formidable supervillain for Ant-Man to contend with, as the former relies on molecule manipulation to use his abilities.

The Molecule Man is a seemingly disturbed individual, one that requires great acting to be properly portrayed on the silver screen. Bill Murray could make the powerful, odd supervillain a smash hit in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Setting up Secret Wars would just be a juicy bonus for Marvel fans. Marvel Studios should be ecstatic that they have acting legend Bill Murray working with them at the House of Ideas. No matter what villain he portrays in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, he will bring charm, heart, and comedy to the role.
